The outage affecting millions of Spotify customers has been cleared and was not caused by a “security hack”, a spokesperson has confirmed.

According to service monitoring site Downdetector, problems began at Spotify at around 1pm on Wednesday, with more than 20,000 reports of user issues with the service being logged since then.

Over 20,000 people have reported issues accessing Spotify today. When we tried opening it up, we were also unable to access the app, which just showed a black screen with loading bubbles.
