The Celtics reportedly are trading recently acquired forward Georges Niang and 2 future second-round draft picks to the Utah Jazz in exchange for rookie RJ Luis Jr.

The Celtics moved off Georges Niang's salary in a deal with the Jazz before signing free agent forward Chris Boucher to a one-year deal.

The Celtics made a pair of moves Tuesday to slightly alter their roster while also saving some money in the process.

When the Boston Celtics fell to the New York Knicks in the second round of the 2025 NBA playoffs, you knew it was the end of a short-lived era. Brad Stevens had assembled a highly talented, but incredibly expensive roster that would have cost the franchise close to $500 million in payroll next season.

First, the Celtics traded Georges Niang and two second-round draft picks to the Jazz for undrafted two-way wing RJ Luis. They then signed forward Chris Boucher to a one-year contract. All in all, they get off Niang’s $8.
