In the wake of last month's Pahalgam terror attack, which saw 26 lives lost including a Nepali national, India’s Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has called for urgent civil defence drills to be conducted across several states on May 7,

Following the Pahalgam attack, India has taken several actions against Pakistan. India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and closed the Wagah-Attari border. Diplomatic ties were downgraded, and Pakistani diplomats were declared persona non grata.

Pakistan is a non-permanent member of the powerful 15-nation UN Security Council, which is being presided over by Greece for May.
