The 49ers opened their preseason with a 30-9 loss against the Denver Broncos from Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. While there was some good and bad for the 49ers from the preseason opener, most fans just wanted a look at some of the fresh faces and for San Francisco to get out of the contest mostly in one piece.

It’s the old NFL next-man-up scenario, and the injury to Jordan Watkins of the San Francisco 49ers provided an opportunity at the receiver position. And that’s where one of two roster hopefuls improved their stock after the loss to the Broncos.
