Excel macros are series of recorded steps that are used within a spreadsheet. Macros can automate repetitive steps and improve data analysis.

Microsoft has disabled Excel 4.0 macros by default in the latest release of its spreadsheet software to help customers protect themselves against related security threats.

Microsoft will soon begin disabling Excel 4.0 XLM macros by default in Microsoft 365 tenants to protect customers from malicious documents.

As with the other apps in Microsoft’s suite, Excel’s interface is much more cluttered than Numbers, Apple’s alternative.
