First things first, Moser got an ambient lighting setup working with XBMC and the Pi, then rigged up a system so he could split various HDMI inputs together.

With Opto-pi, there is not an electrical connection between the Raspberry Pi and connected loads (motors, relay coils, etc.) or input signals. Opto-pi uses light to isolate the 8 digital GPIO pins.

The Raspberry Pi is a great little cheap computer, but it doesn't have a lot of interfacing options to connect external peripherals.

Speaking of the hardware, this little guy uses a Raspberry Pi 5 under the hood, alongside a 4-inch HDMI touch screen, an air quality sensor, and an ambient light sensor.
