Atom, the text editor developed by GitHub Atom and built on the Electron framework, has been upgraded with improvements centered on GitHub packaging as well as Python and HTML language capabilities.

Atom, GitHub’s text editor built on the Electron framework, is being fitted with IDE-like capabilities as a precursor to making the editor a full-fledged IDE.

The Contenders I’ve tried perhaps a half-dozen different Python IDEs now, spending the most time on two of them: Geany and Atom.

GitHub is morphing its open source code editor, Atom, into more of a full-fledged IDE with a new project appropriately called Atom-IDE.
