TMCC's Epic program is offering wilderness survival training to the community. Epic stands for "education programs inspiring the community".

The Baltimore Police Department is launching a new peer intervention program that trains officers to intervene in problematic situations to prevent mistakes and police misconduct.

They will begin training and employment on July 1, 2020 by participating in EPIC’s state-approved Special Education Boot Camp.

Both the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association and Voice of the Experienced, a civil rights group made up of formerly incarcerated people, also testified in support of statewide EPIC training.

Epic new hire training classes were quickly converted into virtual learning events. In addition, fast-track float training was created to quickly educate floating to new assignments.

While the department says the EPIC program will be required training for new recruits in the academy, they're hoping other agencies across the country follow suit.

EPIC was developed by a social psychologist, Ervin Staub, after the beating of Rodney King in Los Angeles. This program is designed to change police culture to prevent misconduct of all kinds.
