Secure your Microsoft account to protect your email, purchases and billing information. Enable two-step verification via Authenticator App.
Step 1: From the “Set up Two-Factor Authentication” page, select “Next,” and you will be prompted to set up the Microsoft Authenticator app.
To set up a Microsoft account, open the Authenticator app and tap Sign in with Microsoft. Now, log in with your account details and complete the process on the web by tapping the link.
If you use a Microsoft account, you should enable two-step verification to add an extra layer of security, and here's how.
Confirm that your Microsoft account is listed in the app and then tap the Set Up button. Make sure the authenticator app is still open on your phone. Tap Set Up at the next screen.
If you carry a Windows Phone, install the Microsoft Authenticator app, which uses the same standard to create authentication tokens that are identical to those from the Google app.
If the Microsoft Authenticator app doesn’t cover all your needs, support for FIDO2 hardware security devices is also coming. That could be a Yubikey, or even a fitness tracker like the Motiv Ring.
