IBM on Wednesday made several announcements around its WebSphere application server platform aimed at easing the integration of disparate applications and systems and improving Web services support.

<b>IBM</b> on Monday introduced a new product to help solution providers link WebSphere Commerce to customers' back-end applications.

Presently WebSphere Business Integration Server Express works with three operating environments including Windows, Linux, and IBM’s iSeries of mid-range systems, a company spokesman said.

WebSphere's next version, code-named Pyxis, will focus on making the application server a better choice for tying systems together.
