Here is a free and open-source tool to write a raw disk image file to a removable device (say USB or flash drive). The tool is named Win32 Disk Imager.
Although .dmg is a macOS disk format, there are a number reasons of why you'd want open them on Windows computers. Here's how to get started.
So I thought I'd use the MS Windows 7 USB/DVD installer tool to make a bootable flash drive of the .IMG file. Unfortunately, the tool only works with ISO's not IMG's. Next I tried Win32 Disk Imager.
Archive a folder Open the Disk Utility app that came with your Mac. Choose File then New Image and lastly Image from Folder. Then pick a folder with all of the files you want to save to the DMG.
Image used with permission by copyright holder That’s all there is to it! Your chosen ISO file should appear as an virtual disc loaded in the virtual drive you added it to.
So you downloaded an .iso or .dmg file, and now you want to burn it to CD or DVD on your Mac. Fear not! No extra software is required.
