Now you can choose a different key sequence to switch Input Language and Keyboard Layout. In case you do not want to set any keyboard shortcut, you can select the Not Assigned option.

If turned off, you can use the system language/keyboard key in the bottom-right corner of the screen, or Gboard’s “Next language” shortcut, which can be added to the top row.

Despite my original claims to the contrary, there is, in fact, a shortcut for this handy function. And it works in Windows 8, too.
