Go to Start and open Control Panel. In the Control Panel, click on Java icon to open the Java Control Panel. Navigate to Java tab To open Java Runtime Environment settings click on View button.

To add Control Panel items to the start menu, you have to create its shortcut on your desktop and then drag and drop it into the start button (orb).

In these situations, you should use the Windows Control Panel to remove any instances of Java. After doing so, use the Microsoft uninstaller to clean up any Java fragments.
