You can access Windows Subsystem for Linux files using Explorer on Windows 11/10. Open Explorer from WSL Terminal or launch the root from Explorer.

Microsoft also says it's investigating user reports of the latest Windows 10 2004 security patch breaking WSL 2.

In this updated version of the Windows Subsystem for Linux, it's also possible to attach and mount a drive to access Linux file systems not supported on Windows 11.

Unfortunately, Windows did not have support for these Linux file systems—until now. Paragon Software now sells Linux File Systems for Windows (see figure) for under $20/system.

Windows 10 makes it easier to access Linux file systems from the Explorer. In previous decades, this was impossible, and it's a good thing for users.

Linux-Windows dual boot systems don't have an easy way to access Linux files while booted into Windows. Some tools exist, but they don't offer perfect solutions.

The LTOOLS under Windows provide a functionality similar to the MTOOLS under Linux: They let you access your files on the “hostile” file system.

When I absolutely must cross the Great Divide separating the Windows partition from Linuxland on a computer in the workplace, Paragon's Universal File System Driver in ExtFS comes to my rescue.

Another option for moving files between Unix and Windows systems it to make a drive or folder available by “sharing” it. Both Unix and Windows have commands for this.
