Microsoft has released PowerShell 7.2 with automatic updates through the Microsoft Update service on Windows 10 and Windows Server devices.

The new version of PowerShell integrates with Microsoft Update to automatically receive servicing releases that include critical bug fixes and security updates.

PowerShell 7.2 users can configure update support to optionally use Windows Server Update Services, System Center Configuration Manager and the Windows Update service.

Microsoft removes the version still included for compatibility for good. It has long been considered obsolete.
