JavaScript is the language of the web. It makes websites interactive, creates animations, draws data-driven graphics, and more.

HTML provides the structure, content and layout, CSS adds style and design, and JavaScript adds functionality and interactivity.

IMHO today Javascript can help to improve that balance—if used wisely. Said that, I think there is no need to generally minimize Javascript usage today any more to keep that balance.
