The first Minecraft snapshot of 2022 has finally arrived. After the release of the Caves & Cliffs Part II update, Java Edition has barely received any new snapshots since the version 1.

Mojang Studios is now releasing Minecraft: Java Edition 1.18.1 Release Candidate 1 to testers, a snapshot that includes a handful of additional fixes for the upcoming 1.18.1 patch update.

After weeks of testing and refinement, Mojang Studios is finally releasing the 1.18.2 patch update for Minecraft: Java Edition, which includes dozens of fixes and technical updates.

Last week, many players were left disappointed after Mojang released no Minecraft snapshot. Despite a delay, Mojang has now finally released a new snapshot for Java Edition.

Minecraft runs on Java version 17 as of this pre-release – and you can expect the same to be true of the live version of Java Edition once 1.18 officially lands.
