Click "Properties" in the "Controls" group of the "Developer" tab, or right-click the check box and choose "Format Control" to open the Format Control dialog box.

When the Open dialog box appears. Search for the corrupt Excel file. Where you see Open at the bottom of the dialog box, click the list box arrow, and select Open and Repair from the menu.
