Microsoft Excel updates cell references when you copy an expression. Here are a couple of workarounds for those rare occasions when you don't want to change the cell references.

Click the fill handle and drag it down until you cover the desired rage of cells in the column, and then release the mouse button. Excel copies the value in the first cell to the other cells.

Unfortunately, you won’t find the “edit this cell” command listed in Excel’s keyboard customization section, so there’s no apparent way to change the shortcut.
