Bob’s Java Jive in Tacoma has been closed for more than a year due to COVID-19. To help reopen the iconic dive bar, fans and regulars raised more than $12,000 in 24 hours.

Java Jive announced it will be closing its doors after 30 years in business on Ponce de Leon Avenue. The announcement on social media says the eatery’s last day will be on December 22.

This year is Bob’s Java Jive’s 97th birthday and brothers Richard and Derek Walden are determined to see it reach its centennial and beyond.
