A 350-pound bear was in a tree for hours on Sunday before it fell onto a mattress as dozens of people watched in Traverse City.

The drama in Traverse City began when wildlife experts responded to a morning call about a bear in a leafy tree. They fired at least four tranquilizer darts into his butt.

The Traverse City Downtown Development Authority announced Tuesday that there will not be a public tree lighting this year but it will still mark the holiday season with a Downtown Light Parade.
