You can only highlight text in PowerPoint directly if you have PowerPoint 2019 or subscribe to Microsoft Office 365.

To add notes to your PowerPoint, you'll need to have your presentation set to "Normal" view before accessing the "Notes" button for individual slides.

To manually crop a picture in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, select it, and in the Picture Format tab on the ribbon, click the top half of the split "Crop" button.
