DENVER (KDVR) — A train derailed in Kiowa County on Wednesday evening, but there were only sparse details about the crash.

Train tracks are back in service in Halifax County days after a CSX train derailed near Enfield, canceling Amtrak train routes across the East Coast, including some routes to and from Raleigh.

Officials say the derailment happened off Danville Road – and as many as ten train cars have jumped the railroad tracks.

Amtrak said in a statement that service has resumed on the track. Travelers from Minneapolis and Chicago use this route.
