MOSCOW (Reuters) - The Kremlin said on Friday that a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump was essential but required considerable advance preparation and had to yield results when it happened.

President Donald Trump said Friday he's moving to set up direct talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as he can, after Putin opted to skip peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Turkey.

Trump said he wants a face-to-face meeting with his Russian counterpart as soon as possible, after insisting that Ukraine peace talks would not progress without that.
